Learning to Use a Computer

Guest post from: Joe Castro

My mom only learned how to use a computer recently, so I was shocked when she started recommending all these websites to me. Since she retired last year, I encouraged her to take a computer literacy course because I thought it would be nice for her to learn. My sister and I figured that she would learn the basics, but we never thought she would start doing all of her shopping and banking online too. The other day I went to her place to visit and she recommended I go to http://www.expertsatellite.com/ and change from cable to satellite TV. She said she was researching it and found that I could get a great deal. Then, she pulled out a box full of gifts she bought me online at a discount. I got a great pair of shoes and a dress out of it, and it wasn’t even a special occasion! I am so proud of her for learning a new skill, and really embracing it. It is so nice to see her branch out, and the fact that she is buying me gifts is just an added perk.

Time for some color

The weather is getting warmer down here, and I have lost a ton of weight.  I think it might be time for me to get some sun tanned in.  I am whiter than a sheet and well...that just looks kinda funny down here in FL

Forgotten

I kinda forgot about this blog, with everything that has been going on in my life.  I think I originally created this in case I lost my original blog..which just so happens.  I did.  I had totally forgotten about this one.

I'm glad this one is here, and I will remember to blog once or twice a week to keep it alive and active.

My own place

Thanks for the guest post by Jonathan Curtis

I knew I wanted to start my own business, but I just wasn’t sure what industry I wanted to do it in. My real passion was food, but that’s such a volatile, competitive field I figured it may be best to start somewhere else. I could start a writing firm, I reasoned, but that’s hard to market. What about real estate? That sounded like a good plan until the market fell out early last year. I finally ended up back and food and it was settled: I would start a cafĂ©. It had always been my dream to own a place of my own, so I registered my new business, found a good website at one of the registrars like Network Solutions or DomainNames.com, and hired and attorney to help me with tax! es and such. We open in a week and I couldn’t be more excited – you guys tell everyone you know in Cincinnati to stop by the place opening weekend! If they mention this blog post I’ll give them a free cookie!

Trying out some dystopian lit for size

Guest post written by John Byrd

Most of the time I like crime thrillers like John Grisham and stuff like that. They're just pretty exciting and also there are a ton of them in airport bookstores, which is where I make most of my book purchases. (I fly a lot for business.)

But the last time that I was on the plane I saw this guy reading a really interesting looking book and I looked it up on my phone after we landed and learned it a was a dystopian novel. It sounded interesting I just wish that I had remembered what the title was. I went online to try and figure it out a few years ago and when I was doing that I came across the website ClearWirelessInternetService.com I read through it some, sent the link to my wife and we decided to change over our internet service to the provider.

I decided to start out with the basics for dystopian lit and bought a few Kurt Vonnegut books, which I've always heard good things about.

Update

Wow I can't believe I totally forgot about this blog. I haven't updated in months. Shame on me >smacking my typing fingers<.
The adoption is finally over and the kids are mine and safe and sound. That is a huge totally huge monkey off my back. Crazy Girl, is still in the state mental ward, and has taken to sending my husband love letters, and me totally crazy poems. I did call the hosptial and asked them to please put a stop to it. I also told them that I am a bit nervous about her. I don't trust her, and she has a very violent side. I guess, there isn't much I can do about it while she is locked up, but I am worried that when she gets out, she might try to find us.

Mom's Day

Yesterday was Mother's Day. I spent the day, at my mothers of course. We brought dinner to my mom's so she didn't have to cook, and spent the day outside around the pool swimming. One of my sisters had came down from PA to visit with my mom also, so it was a pretty nice day. I took a ton of photo's but I haven't uploaded them to my computer yet, so I guess you will have to wait to see them on my other blog ;)

Gifts For Mothers Day

Mother's Day is coming up and once again, I am looking on line for a gift for my mom. Buying for her keeps getting more and more difficult. The woman has everything, or at least everything that she wants. So, I am thinking what can I buy that is useful. Then I got the bright idea, how about some perfume! Can't go wrong with perfume right?

So, I started to look around the web to see what I could find. I was thinking maybe perfume gift sets would be nice. But I couldn't remember what fragrance she liked. I was thinking it was kate moss perfume but I wasn't sure.

So I called her. Guess what! She can't wear perfume anymore because she has asthma and smells set it off. Now, I feel horrible, because I should have known that. So, I have no idea what I am getting my mother for Mother's Day!

Keep or close

I feel so bad about this blog here. Most of the time I forget that it's here. I'm debating on whether to close it up, or not. I hate to give it up. It was my baby until I got a .com.

I will have to think about it and see if there isn't some thing I can differently on here.

What Is Politics

A little boy goes to his dad and asks, "What is politics?"
Dad says, "Well son, let me try to explain it this way: I'm the breadwinner of the family, so let's call me capitalism. Your Mom, she's the administrator of the money, so we'll call her the Government. We're here to take care of your needs, so we'll call you the people. The nanny, we'll consider her the Working Class. And your baby brother, we'll call him the Future. Now, think about that and see if that makes sense,"
So the little boy goes off to bed thinking about what dad had said.
Later that night, he hears his baby brother crying, so he gets up to check on him. He finds that the baby has severely soiled his diaper. So the little boy goes to his parents' room and finds his mother sound asleep. Not wanting to wake her, he goes to the nanny's room. Finding the door locked, he peeks in the keyhole and sees his father in bed with the nanny. He gives up and goes back to bed. The next morning, the little boy says to his father, "Dad, I think I understand the concept of politics now."
The father says, "Good son, tell me in your own words what you think politics is all about."
The little boy replies, "Well, while Capitalism is screwing the Working Class, the Government is sound asleep, the People are being ignored and the Future is in deep poo."

Listen to the Music

I'm listening to oldies while I prepare some things to take to my mothers tomorrow for our Thanksgiving Feast. We will have our own dinner here at home over the weekend.

So while I am trying to cook and chase kids at the same time, you can listen to the music with me : )

Who doesn't like this song..I mean come on.

This one always gets me up and dancing, no matter what I am doing! I love to dance, and yes I can mash potato and do the twist. Do a mean jitter bug too!

I like to Lose it Lose it.

Why is it, when the Holiday Season rolls around, I start worrying about my weight? It happens year after year. There is no way I can start a diet now, not with Thanksgiving next week, and Christmas right around the bend. Not when right after Thanksgiving I start Christmas cookie baking.

I must like to torture myself or something. Since I have moved down here to FL, and since I got the baby, I have been steadily gaining weight. Weird huh. Yep, but then I'm weird. Or at least my body is. You would think that running around all day after Mini Bug, and walking a crying baby would surely help keep the pounds off. Nope. I gained, and probably gaining as I sit and type this. In fact my body is so odd, I swear that if YOU eat it, I gain it. So why do I only worry about this when the holidays roll around. I dunno. Maybe it's because I will be seeing people that haven't seen me in a while and are going to go cross eyed when they see I got fat. I guess I will just have to look at them and cross my eyes back at them.

Actually I hate being overweight, with a passion. I am kinda vain, and I do like to look nice, all the time. I'm kinda stuck in a rut tho, can't very well go walking. Not with temper tantrum Mini Bug throwing herself all over the place every 2 min screaming her head off. Not with the baby, who can't walk, so I would have to push a stroller, and how fast can you actually walk pushing a stroller dragging a screaming 40 pound 3 year old. Not fast. In fact, in stead of losing weight, I would probably just sit down and have a heart attack.

I was reading about this new diet that everyone is talking about, The Flat Belly Diet and I think I will sign up and maybe give it a try. It claims that you can lose up to 15 pounds in 32 days, with no exercise required. That kinda made me raise my eyebrow a bit, but hey, I'm willing to give it a shot. So, they are looking for a select group of women, (I hope I am selected) who would like to join the Flat Belly Diet for free. Free works for me for sure!

Fbd

I sure would like to see my Fat Belly Turn Flat again, so I'm going to give this a shot. Doesn't hurt to try right? I'll let you know how it turns out, if I am one of the ones chosen.

Feeling Better

I am feeling a bit better today. Wow, that was the cold ride from hell. I hope that is the only one I get this winter. I am still keeping the cold meds in me, and I still have a cough and runny nose, but at least today I don't feel like I am dying.

The kids are feeling better also. Mini Bug more. The baby, still a little down, but doesn't seem to be as bad as he was. He is still cranky, but he is teething still and has the other bottom front tooth soon to make an appearance. He looks so funny with just one little tooth in his mouth.

I really don't know how I got the strength to take care of the kids and myself while we were all sick. Just goes to show ya I guess, moms can do anything. It amazes me.

With all the amazing things that doctors can do, I can't believe nobody has come up with a cure for the common cold. I mean, I have had my heart outside of my body, had new arteries attached to it, which is totally amazing, and yet, they can't cure the cold.

Turbo Charge Me!

Turbo Charge me! Or Supercharge Me...what's the difference?

They are kind of similar. Both turbochargers and superchargers are called forced induction systems. They compress the air flowing into the engine. The advantage of compressing the air is that it lets the engine stuff more air into a cylinder. More air means that more fuel can be stuffed in, too, so you get more power from each explosion in each cylinder. A turbo/supercharged engine produces more power overall than the same engine without the charging.

The main difference between a turbocharger and a supercharger is its power supply. Something has to supply the power to run the air compressor. In a supercharger, there is a belt that connects directly to the engine. It gets its power the same way that the water pump or alternator does. A turbocharger,on the other hand, gets its power from the exhaust stream. The exhaust runs through a turbine, which in turn spins the compressor.

In theory, a turbocharger is more efficient because it is using the "wasted" energy in the exhaust stream for its power source. On the other hand, a turbocharger causes some amount of back pressure in the exhaust system and tends to provide less boost until the engine is running at higher RPMs. Superchargers are easier to install but tend to be more expensive.

So now I am going to turbochargerpros.com and ask them to turbocharger me! I love fast. I went to their site and looked up the model of my car, and sure enough it was there. If your looking to turbocharger your vehicle, I encourage you to check out turbochargerpros.com to find the perfect turbo or supercharger for your ride. They also have an extensive inventory and full warranty, everything you need to leave your competition in the dust.

Blog Love

I feel kinda bad. I am a terrible blogger and a worse blogging buddy. Since I moved to FL and then the baby came, I just don't have the time it takes to make great posts anymore. I have been neglecting my blogging buddys and I feel kinda bad about that.

So, here is some linky love to those of you, who stand by me no matter what...who keep coming back again and again, even tho, I'm not there for you at the moment. I hope you all know in you hearts what is going on here and how raising these 2 children is taking all of my time, plus some.

Sooo without too much mushiness, cause too much sugar makes me sick...

Bec, you are one of the nicest people I have met. On line off line, whatever. You are true and honest and caring. You have an innocent gentle heart and I really do like you. Even if you are insane in the membrane, and allow people to walk all over you. Thank you for being there for me when I needed help. Man, that really was a life saver.
You are one fantastic artist. Like I told you time and time again. Be comfortable in your own skin. Don't allow anyone to rain on your parade. Crazy is fun.

Macky I read you every single day girl. I love your blog, I love your honesty, how you pour your heart and soul into your blog. I love your sense of humor, your bad girlness. You rock hard, and you play hard. I don't have time to comment, but I want you to know, I love your blog and I think your pretty cool too.
Here's your bad boy baby!

ok, sick Mighty Bug is crying now, so this will have to continue later

I love Sears Layaway!

Have you heard the news about Sears Layaway? If not let me tell you all about it.

Sear's has brought their Layaway back. I for one could not be more pleased. When I was a young mother, I loved layaway, and would only shop stores that offered it. Then it seemed that more and more stores stopped offering Layaway. I'm so happy that Sears Layaway is back.

For those of you that don't know what layaway is, it's simple. Do your shopping, get all those things that are on your wish list and then see a sales associate and tell them you would like to put your items on layaway. Then pay on them every week, and pick them up in time for Christmas.

I was looking around at Sears and found a Craftsman 10 in.Table Saw that Dr. Corny would love to have. He's been hinting around for one for about 2 years now. I might just surprise him this year.

My mother would surly love this Paula Deen 12-piece Set and I might just surprise her by having it under the tree for her this year.

I also saw the most adorable Disney Infant Boy's Winnie The Pooh 3-Piece Rugby Polo, Tee with Hood, Denim Pant outfit for Mighty Bug, and this one is a must have,I love Sear Layaway!
