Weight Loss Surgery

Some people have struggled with obesity for most of their lives, no amount of diet or exercise seems to work for them. Some of these people chose to have Lap Band Surgery.

My own Doctor back in PA had this surgery done. She was a very big woman, and she had been that way for as long as I knew her. The last time I seen her, I about fell over in shock. She walked into the room, and I didn't know who she was for a minute. Dr. So and So I said, and she laughed and said, yes it's me. She was very thin, and very attractive. I said, what the heck happened to you and that's when she informed me that she had laparoscopic adjustable gastric banding surgery done about 2 months prior to my visit. Wow, she looked amazing.

The other day I was reading a post of a female friend and she was thinking about getting the same surgery done. I wish her all the best in the world.

So I did some reading about obesity surgery and came across the site JourneyLite.com. They have offices in LOS ANGELES / THOUSAND OAKS, CA, HOUSTON, TX CINCINNATI, OH CHATTANOOGA, TN and TAMPA, FL JACKSONVILLE, FL and are offering free seminars. So if your like the people that I know and can't seem to get the weight off no matter how hard you try, you might want to give them a call.

How can Hair hurt?

I'm coming down with something. Throat is hot and hurts, head hurts, actually even my hair hurts. I'm sure you all know that feeling you get before your struck down with the cold/flu from hell.

I swear I have had more colds since I moved here to FL then I ever had. I thought it would be opposite, because I moved away from winter. Nope, I quess the people down here, just make me sick or something.

I don't have time to be sick. I have 2 little ones that need constant attention, and a house that doesn't clean itself (please please someone invent that) and if I don't cook, nobody eats. Well, unless Dr Corny brings dinner home from take out.

So, if my future posts have me seeming more grumpy than usual, now you know why. I feel like poo. (might smell like it too)

I Love Layaway

When I was a young mother of 3 small boys, times were tough. I remember Christmas Shopping and putting all their toys etc on layaway and paying every 2 weeks until it was paid for, usually right before Christmas. I loved layaway because I could buy it all at one time, and then pay every pay day until paid in full. When it was finally paid for I would have boxes and boxes of stuff to take home and wrap and hide until Christmas morning.

I thought layaway's were gone, something of the past. I was really super surprised, and pleased to learn that K-MART still offers layaway. In fact I am going to call my oldest son and let him know. He has 3 small sons and I'm sure this is something that he will be excited about.

I am excited because now when something comes on sale, that I just have to have, if I don't have the money right then and there, I can put it on Kmart Layaway, and still get the bargain and pay for it over time.

I already have most of my Christmas shopping done. So, I found out a bit too late to use K-Mart's layaway this year, but come next year, you can be sure I will be shopping till I drop and putting it all on layaway. With K-Mart's layaway plan I can get Mini Bug

With K-Mart's layaway plan I will get Mini Bug the My Disney Princess Baby Care Station, Disney Princess: Enchanted Tales Bedtopper, and the Giant Four-Story Wooden Dollhouse.

Holiday Stress

Dr. Corny always surprises me. He called me today while he was on his lunch break and said Bug, what are we going to do about #asshole #2 for Thanksgiving.

Remember, asshole #2 is my second in line son of 3. He is the one with all the problems, emotionally, mentally..addictions and so forth. Asshole #1 is married with children and a pretty good life. We don't have to worry about him too much. Asshole #3, is 21 and still in the "I am free and don't bother with my parents too much stage". He will outgrow it. I don't worry too much about it.

But asshole #2 is the problem child. He is 27, but he is still my child. Yes he is grown, yes he is 27, but he is not mentally 27 and I don't think he himself looks at himself as a grown man yet. He also has a lot and I mean a lot of problems.

We had tried to fly him down here for Thanksgiving, but that didn't work out. Why? Well because he has no photo id. Why doesn't he have photo id....dig this....his friend got mad at him and DEEP FRIED all of his id. Yes, you read that right...Deep Fried it all. That just gives you a glimpse of what I deal with, dealing with him. I bet you never heard it before and I'm willing to bet you will never hear those words again..anywhere. His friend deep fried his id. Sigh, I sometimes feel like I enter the Twilight Zone when I talk to him. But he is my son regardless of how whacked out he is. I love him.

Dr. Corny knows this. He knows that my heart is sad and heavy because we moved to FL and I wont have any of my sons with me for the holiday. He knows that I worry about what asshole #2 will do on Thanksgiving, and how I wont enjoy my day or meal knowing that maybe my son wont have a Thanksgiving day dinner. They all came to my house year after year after year.

So, as I said, Dr. Corny called me today during his break and told me to order a dinner for asshole #2 for Thanksgiving. I was happy, that would solve the problem for sure.

So I spent the past hour and 1/2 calling all the different stores back home to see who prepares meals. I called several places that I knew for a fact that prepared Holiday meals and you just go pick them up. Giant Eagle was one that I thought was a sure bet. I had shopped Giant Eagle for years and years..about 25 I guess. They know me, they know me by face and name, they would say Hi to me when I entered the store, ask my husband how I was doing if he went without me. You get the picture. So anyways, I called them and told them what I needed. Sure they could do it, yippee I thought..problem solved. I then told him that I now live in FL and would like to pay now so that my son could just come pick it up the day before Thanksgiving. No! No? No, we don't accept payments over the phone. I said, oh come on, you know me, no he said again, it's company policy, no payments over the phone. You could be trying to comment Identity theft fraud. I said. huh? But you know me. Company Policy he said. We can't do it. Screw you I thought in my head, but politely said, oh ok, thank you, and hung up. So I then called Walmart...thinking, shit, Walmart does everything. She said, oh sure, you can come in, pick out the food you want and cook it at home. Again, in my head, I thought, you freaking moron. Instead I said, ok, that's not what I was looking for, thank you anyways and hung up.

I finally called Friedman's which is a small grocery store, and I had shopped there from time to time...and sure enough, they could do it for me. So asshole #2 will be getting a full Thanksgiving meal, cooked and ready to go, all he has to do is go and pick it up the day before Thanksgiving.

Now I can enjoy my Holiday :) Thank you Dr Corny. I love you.

Days Gone By

I was cleaning out my closet today, and going thru some old packed things, when I came across this picture. It was taken in 1960.

I was just 2 yrs old in this picture. My goodness, I don't remember ever being that young, but I sure was a tall girl at 2. Now I know why Mini Bug is so tall for her age. I also can't believe how very much like me she looks like me . Which I suppose is a good thing heehee.

The tall building in the background is the Heinz company in North Side Pittsburgh. I was standing in front of my grandmothers house and holding my hand there is my dad.

Look that that groovy hair style I have. Someone should have smacked my mom for that. I suppose it was the thing to do with babys hair back then...almost reminds me of a curled mohawk.

I used to love going to my grandmothers house. She was the greatest thing since ice cream in my eyes. That wall you see in the picture actually had a train that ran over it. Not anymore. Not for years. Grandma is gone, train is gone, and I'm not 2 yrs old anymore.

Investing for the Future

We were looking for an online brokerage firm that allows customers to trade Stocks, Options, Mutual Funds, ETFs and Fixed Incomes at competitive cost. We were most interested in OnLine Trading and Stock Trading.

I know that times are bad, and yes we have watched our 401K get slimmer and slimmer in the past weeks. We were also told by several friends that know a heck of a lot more than we do about investments and savings and Stock Trading, that now is the best time to buy. Of course we would need to do a lot of research and take the heads up from those that know more than we do on what stocks etc would be beneficial to us in the long run, and which ones to stay clear from, someone like an OnLine Broker could help us also.

As I said, we were looking on line and found a
discount brokerage firm, that offers a lot of the things were looking for. Check out First Trade for yourselves and see if they offer anything that you are looking for.

Working Poor

I finally got health insurance thru Dr. Cornys work group health plan.

For those of you who don't remember, I was without health coverage for over a year. Because I have a serious health condition, No, and I mean NO health insurance company would sell me health insurance.

So, I am relieved that I finally have insurance, because if something did happen and I had another heart attack or had to have another surgery, it could bankrupt us.

Even tho we are now covered as a family under the group plan, the premiums are thru the roof high. Obscene high. Almost the amount of our mortgage high.

Things HAVE to change. Middle Class is now the working poor.

Tactical Pants

Although tactical pants are pretty much the standard dress for tactical officers and law enforcement, civilians also enjoy all the functionality that's packed into these pants. Operator Tactical Pants are so functional and packed with with so many features that everyone can enjoy wearing them.

They have 10 pockets, made of 60% Cotton/40% Polyester and they are fade resistant. They will look the same color no matter how many times you wash them. They have many many other features but what I like the best, is they look nice!

These pants will be on my shopping list for Christmas this year. I have 3 grown sons that hunt, fish, etc. These pants are rugged enough for them and will last a long time.

Eye Glasses for Less

There are a lot of people without health insurance these days. Up until a week ago, I was one of them. The cost of heath insurance is skyrocketing. My heath insurance does not cover eye glasses. In fact, I can't remember the last time I had insurance that did cover eyeglasses. I get a discount but that's about it. The last time I bought a pair of glasses, the entire cost was well over $300.00.

I need new eye glasses, like months ago. Mini Bug stepped on mine, and every now and then the lens pops out and I have to put it back in. That gets on my nerves. Not only that, but I find myself squinting to see things, and having to take my glasses off to read or look at my monitor. My eyes have changed and I know I need a new eye prescription.

I found that Zenni Optical who makes the claim that they are the market leader in quality, cost effective prescription eyeglasses, have prescription glasses starting at just $8.00. I can see how a family without Vision Insurance could really use a company like this. Imagine having several children who need to wear glasses, and you don't have insurance to cover the cost. Yikes! It could lead to family arguments, about finances.

So I went to Zenni Opticals site and took a look around, to see if they had anything I liked. I found this pair of Rimless stainless steel that I kinda liked. I am thinking as a second pair of glasses I couldn't go wrong.
